Mary Travers von "Peter, Paul and Mary" gestorben

Die Songs, die von Peter, Paul and Mary (interessante biblische Namen!!) interpretiert wurden (Traditionals, Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot u.v.a) haben mich immer besonders berührt. Ihre außergewöhnlichen Stimmen und das virtuose Gitarrenzusammenspiel waren ein prägender Soundtrack in meiner Kindheit; meine Eltern besaßen Platten und Tonbänder ihre Alben. Mary Travers ist vor einigen Tagen im Alter von erst 72 Jahren gestorben. Gepostet habe ich einen Spiritual, den sie ca. 1963 (26 Jahre alt) leidenschaftlich singt.
Allerdings nicht die Originalversion des Textes, der auf Christus bezogen war, sondern einen von PPM und Milt Okun umgeschriebenen Text, der sich auf den Exodus bezieht und indirekt der Bürgerrechtsbewegung der 60er Jahre eine Stimme gibt.
